Many Texas residents have underlying health care conditions. Many people suffer from heart disease, kidney disease, and the like. These medical conditions can be complicated. However, most medical staff are well-trained in caring for an individual who has medical complications.
A woman from Jefferson County has filed a lawsuit against Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Reliant Physicians of Southeast Texas PLLC and Dr. Frank J. Fasullo. She alleges that they did not give proper care to her husband, which led to his death. Her husband died on Dec. 31, 2013 at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth. His widow alleges that the medical staff did not properly treat him despite knowing that he was a dialysis patient and required extra care with certain drugs. No one expects their medical provider will provide care that hurts their loved one. Medical providers are expected to be professional and knowledgeable. But occasionally a doctor makes a serious mistake that causes a person to suffer a serious injury or even death. The loss of a loved one due to a medical error is unacceptable.
If a family believes this has happened to someone they love, they may want to speak with a legal professional skilled in medical malpractice. An attorney can review medical records and consult with medical experts to determine what happened to cause the death. They can hold the medical professional accountable for the injury. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.
Medical errors affect thousands of people across the United States every year. It is important to hold medical providers accountable for their errors so that they do not harm anyone else.
