For Houston residents suffering from the effects of a negligent physician, it may be comforting to know that even celebrities run into medical negligence issues. The New York Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriguez, has accused the team doctor of failing to diagnose a left hip injury.

Alex Rodriguez, the third baseman for the New York Yankees, has accused the team doctor of medical malpractice. Last week Mr. Rodriguez filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the team doctor accusing him of failing to diagnose a left hip injury during last season’s playoff games.

An MRI was performed on Mr. Rodriguez’s left hip during the postseason of 2012. The doctor allegedly analyzed the MRI and determined that Mr. Rodriguez had a superior labral tear on his left hip, but did not let Mr. Rodriguez know this information. Because he was allowed to continue to play baseball, Mr. Rodriguez believes that his continued play resulted in further injuries and subsequent surgeries. The baseball player claims that the worsened condition was a direct result of the negligence of the team physician.

For those who are afflicted with injuries as a result of the failure to diagnose a condition, it is important to know what legal rights are available. A negligent medical staff member should be held accountable for their actions. The legal system is there for helping those who have suffered at the hands of someone else.

Failing to diagnose a condition can lead to further unexpected medical treatment, critical injuries and even death. A legal professional skilled in medical malpractice can help a patient and his family determine if negligence has occurred and what legal options are available.
