When a Houston resident needs to have surgery, it can be worrisome and nerve-wracking for them. Placing complete trust in another person’s hands is a hard thing to do. But recently a Texas surgeon was charged with assault because of the acts of negligence he allegedly performed on some of his patients.
A former neurosurgeon from Dallas was recently indicted on several assault charges. The doctor lost his license in 2013 and is now facing potential prison time. There have been numerous allegations against the doctor. These include operating on the wrong part of a patient, leaving a sponge inside of a patient, misdiagnosed ailments, failed to identify hemorrhaging in a patient who later died and numerous other complaints. Many of the medical personnel who worked with him said they wondered if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol because of the egregious acts of negligence he allegedly performed on so many patients. He has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and one count of injury to an elderly person.
